A group of friends are in a barn in southern Maine hashing out original songs and asking themselves, “what would Donald Fagen do?”

Fast forward to a year later and the young band has not survived the move from small town Oxford Hills to big town Portland, Maine.

Ryan moves to Los Angeles.

Matt becomes a mainstay of the Portland music scene.

Brad starts a family.


After 15 years the guys kept in contact and realized they were still compelled to play music. To write. To sing. To play guitar. So at Brads suggestion they decided to write a song per week and share the results. 2 albums later the guys are once again asking themselves, “what would Donald Fagen do?”

Obsessed with chord changes, lyrics, rhythm and harmony, Love the Work is a creative force. Radiohead, Charlie Parker, Jethro Tull, Steely Dan. These are the sounds that NEED to find a common home in the eclectic styles of these multi instrumentalists.

DIY, home recording, and the expansion that is demanded from learning new skills like marketing and promotion are exciting challenges as they write their own future in the music world
